I'm working on a pair of pajama pants right now. I figured it would be a nice beginner project, since I actually wear them once in a while, and even if I screw um up, it's just pajama pants.
I was up in Portland a few days ago, and had the chance to check out Fabric Depot, which is, the website tells me, the largest fabric store in the U.S.A.. It is, to quote Douglas Adams, "big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mindbogglingly big it is." Well, anyway, I had a lot of fun poking around there, and then had lunch at Burgerville. THE END.
A few days later in Corvallis, the local Joann Fabric just reopened in a larger space. Had this happened before I had seen Fabric Depot, I would've been impressed by their selection. Now, it's barely worth mentioning.

Donkey.
Here's a donkey I made from another old glove. I haven't figured out a name. His stitching is tidier than the squirrel , but still leaves a lot to be desired. His head is on a bit crooked, like he's looking to the side. It's not a big deal, I guess it kinda adds to his charm.
Here he is posed on top of a minivan.
Here he is playing Super Scrabble. (The board is a lot larger, and there are more tiles than regular Scrabble.)

Professor Squirrel
I've decided I'm going to start learning how to sew. I've spent most of my life struggling to find clothes that:
- I like.
- That fit.
- I can afford.
My girlfriend, who's pretty handy with a needle, got a book from the library (Happy Gloves by Miyako Kanamori) on sewing stuffed animals from cheap acrylic gloves. She's made some amazing animals from it, but it's been a lot slower going for me. Still, so far I've managed to make a little squirrel. (I call him Professor Squirrel.) He's pretty ragged, but I learned a fair bit making him.
